Terms and Conditions
By participating in any activity organised by Hiking Club Ireland (including hikes, events, and trips), you agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully before signing up.
1. Contribution and participation
Your payment is a non-refundable contribution to Hiking Club Ireland. You agree to arrive on time. We cannot wait longer than the scheduled departure time. Bring your Leap Card or cash for transport; you will need your own personal insurance.
2. Reward points
Reward points are awarded when you attend the hike and your participation is recorded on the day. Points are not given for sign-up alone.
3. Assumption of risk and release of liability
Hiking and outdoor activities involve inherent risks, including but not limited to injury, illness, property damage, and death. These risks may arise from terrain, weather, wildlife, equipment, the actions of other participants, or other causes. By participating, you:
- Voluntarily assume all risks associated with the activity, whether known or unknown
- Confirm that you are sufficiently fit and healthy to safely participate and do not suffer from any medical condition that would adversely affect your ability to take part
- Accept sole responsibility for any health and medical expenses arising from or during the activity
- Release and hold harmless Hiking Club Ireland, its organisers, leaders, volunteers, and all persons associated with the activity from any and all claims, actions, liabilities, and causes of action, whether involving negligence or otherwise, arising from or in connection with your participation, to the fullest extent permitted by law
- Agree not to bring any claim or legal action against Hiking Club Ireland or its organisers, leaders, or volunteers in respect of any incident, accident, injury, loss, or damage
This release applies to you and your heirs, successors, executors, administrators, and assigns. You acknowledge that you participate freely and voluntarily and do not rely on any inducements, promises, or representations made by Hiking Club Ireland or anyone associated with it.
Note: This waiver does not extend to gross negligence or intentional misconduct. We recommend that you obtain adequate personal accident and travel insurance covering participation in outdoor activities.
4. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Hiking Club Ireland and its organisers, leaders, volunteers, and associates from any liability, demand, claim, or expense (including reasonable legal costs) arising from your acts, omissions, or conduct during participation in any activity.
5. Conduct and safety
You agree to follow the instructions of the hike leader or organiser, comply with all applicable rules and regulations, and conduct yourself in a responsible manner. You will not bring or consume alcohol or substances in a way that impairs your ability to participate safely. Failure to comply may result in exclusion from the activity.
6. Insurance
Hiking Club Ireland does not provide personal accident or travel insurance. You are responsible for obtaining your own insurance. We strongly advise you to ensure your policy covers participation in hiking and outdoor activities.
7. General
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. If any provision is found to be unenforceable, the remainder shall continue in full force and effect. By participating, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these terms.
